(I’m safe and sound. It’s business as usual down here in the Keys.)
Have you ever taken one of those personality tests where you have to answer on a scale of 1 to 5; 1 being most like you and 5 being least like you? Most of my answers end up being 3.
“Would you say you’re extroverted?” Well, mostly no. I’m quiet and shy around new people. I enjoy being alone. Then again, put me with my family or close friends, and I can be THE extrovert.
“Are you a leader?” That’s a confusing one. I follow. I lead. I’ll lead if no one else steps up. Sometimes I’ll lead covertly.
So I’m answering sometimes yes and sometimes no when I click that number 3.
Then there are the questionnaires. “What’s your favorite color? What’s your favorite flower? Who’s your favorite band?” I’ve never liked the word “favorite”. I have different favorites based on different moods.
Does that make me indecisive? I think I’m just being honest.
I do have one favorite. (I know, I know. Didn’t I just say that I never liked favorites?)
A quote by Walt Whitman.
“Do I contradict myself? Very well, then, I contradict myself. (I am large, I contain multitudes.)”
Aha. Yes. Perfect.
