In one week and one day we will begin four days of performances of The Book of Liz. From what I hear, it is a very funny play. Ours is amusing, but I wouldn’t say funny. Not yet, anyway. Most of the funny is “inappropriate” and has been cut out.
I will tell you what is funny for me.
It is a play about cheeseballs.
I’m not kidding.
It’s about a Squeamish (Amish) community where a very sweaty Elizabeth Donderstock makes cheeseballs to support the people. She runs off and has adventures with Mr. Peanut, a restaurant employing AA members, and comes back only to find her community falling apart because no one else can duplicate her cheeseballs. The secret ingredient? I’ll let you guess.
I have to go now. My science lab started three minutes ago and I really should be participating.
All hail the great and mighty cheeseball.
