What I really want to say is…

The Book of Liz a la Howard Payne

February 22, 2007 · 8 Comments

In one week and one day we will begin four days of performances of The Book of Liz. From what I hear, it is a very funny play. Ours is amusing, but I wouldn’t say funny. Not yet, anyway. Most of the funny is “inappropriate” and has been cut out.

I will tell you what is funny for me.

It is a play about cheeseballs.

I’m not kidding.

It’s about a Squeamish (Amish) community where a very sweaty Elizabeth Donderstock makes cheeseballs to support the people. She runs off and has adventures with Mr. Peanut, a restaurant employing AA members, and comes back only to find her community falling apart because no one else can duplicate her cheeseballs. The secret ingredient? I’ll let you guess.

I have to go now. My science lab started three minutes ago and I really should be participating.

All hail the great and mighty cheeseball.

sorry to hear that “the man” took the funny out of your play… perhaps your performance will outweigh the school’s lapse in judgment.

Secret ingredient … hmmm … apples. laugh. I was thinking weird stuff like pig’s fat … something hairy … then ordinary things like sugar … breadcrumbs. Sounds actually like a play you may have wrote … hmmm … although now that they altered it, I’m sure you’re re-altering it in your head. And I’m pretty sure your finished product would be worth theater time. :)

I’m glad to here a family can go to the theater in Brownwood at the university and it will be amusing. I’d say that would not be the case in Howell…However tonight we can go to the theater and hear funny stuff! Because it’s a fund raiser for Thrive Africa and everything will be clean and FUNNY! Wish I could be down there in Brownwood to see that play I would love to see you in all three parts or was it four?

Great sweaty cheeseballs, that’s nasty! Maybe HPU should have picked a better play and not have chopped it all up. It’s like taking a song and hacking it up so you can do it. If you can’t do it right, don’t do it at all. O well, if we were only in charge we could fix everything (right)! Have fun ACTING! Later tater!
