I don’t know if you heard anything about this, but it seems that JJ Abrams made a little movie called Star Trek.
After I saw the first teaser trailer, I knew. It was love at first sight. We all know that trailers are meant to ruin the film. I mean, trailers are meant to tempt people to watch the movie who otherwise wouldn’t.
Well, as I previously mentioned, I knew.
So I have been on an information fast. Which includes a strict regimen of not reading any articles about it, and when trailers come on I put my fingers in my ears, sing songs and rock back and forth.
Erick has teased me incessantly. “Oh look! An article about Star Trek! Ohhhhh! What does it say?”
Of course he doesn’t go any further than that because he knows too.
I won’t be dressing up in costume when I go to watch it in the theater, but it will still be glorious.

What is this “Star Trek” you speak of?

I did this for Lord of the Rings. to the extent of singing La La La La La La while I had my eyes closed and fingers in my ears.
I hope the rest of the cinema weren’t too annoyed.

My songs have complicated lyrics such as “A bunny ate a carrot today/ and his toes turned a purpley green. I can’t remember the bunny’s name, but he’s the fluffiest I’ve ever seen.”
This covers the sound of the trailer, and keeping my mind preoccupied with ridiculous words is an additional filter to make sure I don’t subconsciously take in any information.

My mom and dad – trekies- saw it and said the previews didn’t really give away anything. They were quite suprised by that and thoroughly enjoyed the film.
They said there was this one part, where Kirk…JK! Love you. Have a great vacation!
